Thank you water bodies of Europe for confluencing at the Dutch North Sea coast

REPRESENTATIVES FROM 35 EUROPEAN WATER ECOSYSTEMS MEET IN THE NETHERLANDS

We look back with great pleasure on the Confluence of European Water Bodies, held in Amsterdam and Bergen aan Zee from September 21–24, 2025. It filled us with pride and gratitude that no less than 70 representatives (Rights of Nature experts, artists, ecologists, and designers) from across Europe traveled to the Low Countries to meet and exchange perspectives, methods, and actions for a symbiotic and reciprocal relationship with Europe’s water ecosystems.

With a public opening on September 21, 2025, by British author Robert Macfarlane at De Balie Amsterdam, a four-day residency at the Zeehuis in Bergen, programmes at Museum Kranenburgh, the University of Amsterdam, Mediamatic, and culminating in the Dogger Bank Coalition Inaugural Meeting at the Amstelkerk, we strengthened our network and foundation through knowledge sharing, exercises, rituals, and discussions.

As a network, we now represent 35 rivers, seas, glaciers, lakes, and lagoons, and we are steadily growing. We will use the coming winter months to reflect on our strategy and long-term goals for Europe up to 2030. But some news we can already announce: the Confluence 2026 will take place in Berlin!
